Neighborhood Folk - Arnprior Night Market

The Town of Arnprior hosted its first multicultural Night Market in the downtown core in August 2022. The Night Market featured local vendors and artisans, as well as live entertainment, art installations, and more! The event goals are for attendees to celebrate and become more acquainted with the rich diversity of their neighbours and beyond.

Local artists were asked to create artwork reflecting the market’s theme on 4 x 4 cube panels that were later showcased at the night market and interacted with by eventgoers throughout the weekend.

Neighbourhood Folk, Mural by Canadian / Ottawa Artist, Kasia Niton. The mural is painted in a folk art style using bold shapes and brush strokes. The artwork features critters (rabbit and bird), fruits, veggies, and flowers found in a garden.

About the Artwork - Statement

A colourful piece inspired by diverse neighbourhood ecosystems. Using bold shapes and intricate folk-art designs (inspired by my cultural roots), the artwork showcases a collection of common garden critters and bright, bold, local fruits, vegetables, and florals interconnecting in unique patterns interwoven throughout the piece. The artwork is inspired by the rich diversity in our neighbourhoods, the roots that brought us here, and the simple pleasures that connect us all.
