Bayshore Love Mural
I was asked to create two interactive murals for Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa. The murals were displayed in Centre Court for the weeks leading up to Valentine's day and the public was encouraged to share the love and their photos using #bayshorelove
This mural explores the different ways people connect with one another and the varied relationships they share with the ones they love. Whether friends, family, significant others, pets, etc., each of these connections is beautifully unique.
The modern street-art walls illustrate the feeling of love with bright colours, happy messages, and icons. Over the years, and with our advancing technologies, we've found new ways of connecting with those closest to our hearts.
The bridge symbolizes the connection aspect - joining and connecting people and places. In many cities around the world (including Ottawa) bridges are a popular place for people to add their own locks as symbols of their love.
Graffiti or street-art is often overlooked and passed by without a second thought. In the same way, love can be found anywhere but is often taken for a granted in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This interactive mural installation is meant to echo the ways we connect and express love for one another.
